Peugeot 206 1.4 Cambelt Replacement: Page 4

logo
Reassembly is generally a straight reversal of disassembly. Start by replacing the cambelt covers, followed by the crank pulley and the auxillary belt. Replace the top engine mount steady bars.

Refill with coolant after opening the bleed nipple on the top heater matrix hose until cear water flows from it. Close it and continue filling until the expansion bottle is nearly full. As the expansion bottle is at the top of the cooling circuit, the engine is almost self-bleeding.

Start up and run the engine up to temperature, listening for whines or other noises from the new cambelt. A whine suggests the tension is set too tightly. Stop immediately and recheck.

Contine to run the engine until up to temperature. Bleed the heater matrix again and check the radiator is hot all-over. Continue running until the fans cuts in and out again. Check for warmth from the heater.

Check the auxillary belt tension. It should be tensioned so that it just does not "whip" under engine accelleration.

Switch off and replace the mudshield and roadwheel.
